I think it begins with being more open minded, before the conversation even starts. In my experience in the workplace, the suggestion of a new idea was often met with a defensive attitude by management content with the status quo. The person with the suggestion then goes on the offensive and it becomes more of a fight instead of working as a team to determine if it’s a viable and better alternative.
