My Mom will turn 80 this year. I help her a lot these days with finances, housework, shopping, going to doctor appointments. About a month ago she told me that I’m her best friend. The feeling is mutual.

I was with my Dad when he died almost 2 years ago. It’s so very hard to watch your parents slowly losing physical and cognitive abilities. Role reversal is something we all know is coming, but we don’t fully understand how emotional it will be.

On the other hand, we are spending some quality moments together watching Shocker basketball and reminiscing about old times. We still have a lot of good times hanging out with each other. Whether we’re laughing or crying we are together and that makes us happy.

Great article! Thanks for sharing.
