On Your Mark, Get Set, Write!

How to tame your creative energy and overcome the obstacle of getting started.

One of the biggest obstacles to writing is getting started. If you are like me and you don’t enjoy reiterating the same story again and again, you find yourself perplexed by the task of determining what to write about.

This dilemma is not always due to a lack of inspiration but rather quite the opposite. We are often surrounded by people, places, events and emotions that inspire ideas.

The proverbial inability to see the forest for the trees stands in the way of propelling off the starting blocks. Narrowing down the subject matter from a sea of stimuli to one topic can be an overwhelming task.

Organization is the technique that works best to assist me in focusing my attention. Of course, this may not be an approach suitable for everyone. If you would like to give it a try, here is how it works.
