Raising Awareness for the Time to Stop Being So Aware
Awareness has reached the point of diminishing returns. Let’s do something about that.
In economic terms, the point of diminishing returns as defined by Encyclopedia Britannica means,
“If one input in the production of a commodity is increased while all other inputs are held fixed, a point will eventually be reached at which additions of the input yield progressively smaller, or diminishing, increases in output.”
One of my college economics professors explained this principle with an interesting and understandable analogy in relation to eating at her favorite pizza restaurant when she went home to visit.
That first slice of pizza tasted like heaven, creating a sense of delight better than sex. The second slice of pizza was delicious, but not with as much overwhelming satisfaction as the first. With the consumption of each additional piece of pizza, the desire to eat more pizza diminished until the thought of pizza became nauseating.
I think the Age of Awareness has finally reached the point of nausea for me.
