Who’s There? Identify Yourself

We all start out the same. Over time we are shaped by people, experiences, and environment. Identity is the evolution of personality.

I have been many people over the years. A child to my parents, a sister to my brother, an employee to my boss and a wife to my husband. I have been a classmate, a sorority girl, a friend, a neighbor and a stranger on the street.

None of these individual identities encompass all of who I am. Identity is a collective. Only you can see and understand the many complexities of your own true identity.

And even that is not static. Identity is a dynamic anomaly, morphing with every person met and each situation experienced.

Living in My Brother’s Shadow

When I was a teenager, I lived in the shadow of my older brother. He wasn’t a superstar athlete, a scholarly genius or destined to be on the cover of GQ.

His gift was his personality. He has always had a demeanor that draws people in. You can’t help but to like him. I know this because I too can’t help but to like him.
